What is the EYFS?

The EYFS stands for Early Years Foundation Stage, and it's how the Government and early years professionals describe the time in your child's life between birth and 5.

The framework is there to help us assess your child and help them to develop to their full potential.

In it, it sets out the legal welfare requirements that everyone who looks after children must follow to keep your child safe.

There are also seven areas of learning and development which guide us in arranging play activities to help your child learn and develop new skills.

It is useful tool to chart your child's progress against what are called "Early Learning Goals", the expected levels your child should reach by age 5.
